Virtual Village Swap

We might not all be able to move to a self sustaining commune in the woods with a shared garden and friendly flock of sheep… but maybe we can replicate it virtually.

Let’s create our own cooperative community where we share our hand makes, support each other, and ignite inspiration.

Join in our neighborly craft swap to send a care package of your own making and receive a care package made by another crafter just for you.

Deadline to sign up: February 10th

You’ll receive your assigned neighbor in mid February.

Deadline to send your care package: March 15th

⭐️ Please read through the information below before filling out the form to participate. Thank you! ⭐️

  • Please send items that are handmade with natural/organic materials. Use the skills you have to craft a care package that would be handy to receive from your neighbor in a self sustained community. Here are a few ideas:

    Handknits: sweater, hats, scarves, gloves.

Pottery: utility items like bowls, cups, mugs, candle holder.

Wooden wares: utility items like spoons, bowls, chopsticks.

Sewing: apron, oven mitt, tool pouches, placemats, napkins, mini quilt.

Other crafts: dipped candles, braided rag rugs, handmade soap, basketry, hand brooms, salves, woven dish towels, hand spun yarn, handwritten recipe card.

You will receive the below completed form of your randomly assigned neighbor. You can use this information to customize a care package for them to fit their needs and interests.

  • Take this as an opportunity to learn! Find a local class to attend or teach yourself a new skill. Ask a crafty friend to teach you how to embroider, whittle, sew, or crochet.

Don’t have time to learn a new skill? Use what you can do to acquire something handmade from your local community. Trade a sourdough loaf to your neighbor for a set of linen napkins. Help plan a garden in exchange for a bundle of hand dipped candles.

Take the time to read through your receiver’s info. If they’re a knitter, maybe you could source some local handspun yarn for them. If they like to sew, you could send some indigo dyed linen.

  • Participation is free. If you’d like to support our efforts, we invite you to check out our pattern shop , join our Patreon, or send a ko-fi. Thank you :)

  • You might remember from the 2022 Craft Swap that we custom matched every participant according to their wishlist. This took a TON of work. For this swap, you will be randomly assigned. The entry box on the form below for “is there anything you really need?” is meant to inform your swapper, but there is no guarantee it will be specifically fulfilled.

A few things to note:

  • Your randomly assigned gifter will receive the information you write in the form below.

  • Your gift must be handmade.

  • Please opt for natural materials in your make.

  • North America participation only.

  • Note: It is the unfortunate risk that you might not receive a care package from your gifter. Although we send out e-mail and IG reminders and can reach out once or twice to inquire about package statuses, we have no control over whether or not someone sends a package or if that package gets lost in the mail.
